Randamoozham is the most ambitious project in Indian cinema, which is to be made on a whopping budget of Rs 1000 crore. To be directed by ad-filmmaker Shrikumar Menon, the project has megastar Mohanlal in the lead, playing Bheema, the second of the Pandavas. Halfway into  Jomonte Suvisheshangal , what occupies the audience’s mind is not the story, not the actors, not their performances, nor the treatment. It’s a sense of having experienced this before. It’s too recent, too fresh in memory to be termed ‘déjà vu’. And, then it strikes you. This is the Sathyan Anthikkad version of what you have seen in the similarly named  Jacobinte Swargarajyam , hardly a year ago. A rich businessman, an aimless son, business collapse, son suddenly turns responsible and set things right — the skeleton remains same in both cases. You just need to wait till the interval for this skeleton to tumble out of the closet, of course clad in the traditional Anthikkad clothing of ‘mundu’ and ‘shirt’, which all his protagonists end up wearing. Sexy Durga’ wins Hivos Tiger Award

In a first for any Indian film, independent Malayalam film-maker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s ‘Sexy Durga’ has won the Hivos Tiger Award 2017 at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). ‘Sexy Durga’ premièred in Rotterdam on January 27 and is Sasidharan’s third feature film after Oraalppokkam (Six Feet High, 2014) and Ozhivudivasathe Kali (An Off-Day Game, 2015), both of which were critically well-received. The award is a big win for the film-maker, who had crowd sourced the funds for his first feature film. Shortly after the announcement, Sasidharan wrote on  Facebook , “This is something for Team Sexy Durga and indie movement in Malayalam. Thanks everyone. Remember my friends who supported me making my first film. Thank you. Thanks IFFR.”
